📖 Research Agenda

My research agenda is grounded in a commitment to advancing inclusive education in the Global South, with a particular focus on Mozambique. Currently, my dissertation examines the systemic and cultural barriers that prevent children with disabilities from accessing Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).

Drawing on Disability Studies in Education, intersectionality, and de-colonial perspectives, my work investigates how policies are developed and implemented, how educators are prepared for inclusive practices, and how community voices, especially those of parents and children, can be centered in policy and practice.

In the medium term, I aim to expand this research to comparative contexts, exploring inclusive education across countries in the Global South & North. I am especially interested in developing teacher training and leadership models that emphasize culturally sustaining pedagogy and equity-driven practices, as well as integrating funds of knowledge to strengthen partnerships between schools and families.

Looking further ahead, my long-term vision is to contribute to policy reforms and systemic change that move beyond symbolic commitments to inclusion and instead create sustainable frameworks for equity in education. This includes addressing the persistent literature gap on early childhood inclusion in Mozambique and the broader Global South.

My work also embraces interdisciplinary innovation: through media platforms such as television, podcasts, and AI-enhanced tools, I seek to amplify marginalized voices, promote leadership opportunities for youth and girls, and create practical pathways toward a more inclusive society.
